Bradford West Gwillimbury is taking public transit to the next level!
The town launched an all-electric, on demand service earlier this year. Residents will be able to schedule rides anywhere in town using a mobile app, for a standard fare.
The new system was developed in collaboration with Argo Transit, and combines electric
vehicles with smart routing technology. It responds to real-time demand, cutting down wait
times, offering faster, more convenient rides.
Mayor James Leduc expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that it will empower
residents and strengthen the community. He believes that this initiative will pave the way for
a more sustainable future for Bradford with the system designed to grow as the town’s
population increases, offering commutes.
The new service is all about making life easier, smarter, and more sustainable for its
residents, while creating a more connected future for its community. With improved access,
reduced traffic, lower taxpayer costs per ride, eco-friendly travel, and new tech-sector job
opportunities, Bradford West Gwillimbury is building a more connected and future-ready
community.
The success of the program could inspire other Canadian communities aiming to modernize
their public transit. It’s a step in the right direction, showing that cities of all sizes can make a
big difference in their residents’ quality of life.
